“Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

I love nothing more (besides my own family… and maybe wine….) than a week at the beach. Salt Water is therapy for my soul.  Recently my family returned to the Outer Banks in North Carolina, and we just had an amazing (shark free) time.  Restored.  Refreshed.  Whole.

Look at just how my family has grown! Ack!

My sister and brother-in-law embarked on a journey of adoption two and a half years ago. Mountains on paperwork later, they were finally approved, and then matched with baby S in the Fall of 2012. For the next 14 months it was a roller coaster of emotion, more paperwork, international flights, monthly newletters, a tearfully-missed first birthday, more paperwork, … and finally…. Merry Christmas 2013 “you can come get your son.” My sister and BIL left the US on the last day of 2103 childless, and returned a week later with their beautiful powerhouse of a son.

Our family rejoiced!

And now we can’t imagine life without him!  Adoption is beautiful!

OK, OK, I couldn’t help myself. I’m so sorry Amie- I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times. ;) Amie & I have swapped sessions around Christmas time for a couple of years now. Its so handy to have someone pretty close with matching styles. And our families get along famously!  Here is a sample of what I did for Amie.

Thanks for being one of the best Amie!

I’ll let the story tell itself…

And not to exclude my eldest…

I love my kids!

A few weeks ago my family got to take a glorious trip to Myrtle Beach. It was our first time there, and we absolutely loved every moment.  We are beach bums… we normally spend 6 to 8 hours on the beach every day, before we head out for various adventures.  Our favorite excursion?  Alligator Adventure, near Barefoot Landing.  My kids LOVED petting a baby gator and watching the live feedings.  I loved reconnecting with my precious 4 people, and stocking up on my Vitamin D.

Just a few of me and my girl. Look at how much she’s changed from our old picture in my profile photo above! It was blazing hot, but I was determined to get these while the Queen Anne’s Lace was still in bloom.

Thanks for stopping in. Have you had a Mommy & Me photo taken recently?

RE: Family Photographs at the Hyatt

My family recently spent the weekend at your hotel in celebration of my parent’s 40th anniversary. My brothers and I decided to have family photos taken and give them to my parents as a gift of memories for years to come. When I called the hotel to find the name of a photographer the person I spoke with only had names of wedding photographers. Feeling at a loss, I searched the internet for local photographers. After spending hours online, I finally decided to call Andrea Burns. Her website showcased amazing family pictures and I could just tell that she would provide me with quality pictures. Andrea was quick to call me back and agreed to meet us during our stay. She was flexible with times and even suggested a rain date. Andrea is a local woman and knows the Hyatt landscape well.

On the evening we were supposed to meet for pictures it was overcast and rainy. Andrea and I agreed to cancel that night and have them done the following evening (at no extra charge). The following evening my entire family, including three grandchildren under the age of five met Andrea in the lobby of the hotel. She was quick to begin as she understood working with children is like working with a ticking time bomb. Needless to say the session went well and we all LOVE the pictures. They brought tears to my mother’s eyes and we are so happy that Andrea was able to capture our reunion with such quality.

It is without hesitation that I would like to suggest that you add Andrea Burns to your local list of photographers for family photographs. Given that The Hyatt has such beautiful scenery and is so family friendly I would think that many other families would love to take capture priceless memories of their stay.

Please feel free to contact me with any further questions. I have attached a shot of the group.

Best,

Beth L

THANKS Beth!

Merry Christmas from my family to yours!

my little girl… my little muse is three. While I miss little baby, I love that she is now *somewhat* bribable for photos.  Audrey is really a little ham… the typical baby-of-the-family in the way that she loves to clown around and get your attention.  This girl is tough… she’s knows how to throw down karate kicks, all the while still wearing ALL of her necklaces at once.  She’s my thumb sucker… she’s my Sugar.  Happy Third Birthday Audrey.  I love you!
