Merry Christmas & Happy New Years!

Seth

Seth (7) started 1st Grade this fall, and is already reading on a 2nd Grade level. He loves to build anything lego and is obsessed with anything Star Wars. Seth loves Tron and Phineas & Ferb.

Lucas

Lucas (4.5) is writing his name… backwards, forwards and upside down. He lives and breathes trains, and has no prejudice over which brand. Thomas, Geo Trax, Lionel… you name it. He really likes The Polar Express & Chuggington.

Audrey

Audrey (2.5) throws punches and drop-kicks, while wearing all of her necklaces and bracelets. She refuses to use the potty whatsoever. She loves “Sesmee Street” and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Nate and I celebrated our 10th anniversary this year. Nate started the year as a Youth Pastor, and has ended the year accepted into Sheriff’s Academy. Big changes coming to our family! We moved two hours away to the Eastern Shore of Maryland this summer, and hopefully photography clientele will pick up for me this coming year. We are grateful to be living closer to family and watching God work in our life.

In Audrey’s words….

“spooky spooky…”

Happy Halloween!

Its been interesting teaching my kids to shed their city slicker ways and become country kids. “What do you mean ‘go outside and play?’” LOL, I was always to scared to let them play for too long in our old townhouse division. But with secluded uninterrupted 20 acres of field and forrest, I’ve tried encouraging them to play outside more.  They’re leaning though.  :)

Big Announcement…

May 24, 2011

I have a big announcement. It comes with pain, and also with the hope of new things and adventures to come.

Our family has decided that we will be relocating to the Eastern Shore of Maryland (Queen Anne’s Co, Talbot & Caroline Co).

At this time I do not have a moving date set in stone, but it does look like it will be the end of June/ beginning of July.

So, what does this mean to you?

Well….. for some it means I had the utmost pleasure photographing you and your family’s magic, and I wish you the best in life. For some, it means we may meet halfway in Annapolis for fun sessions there, and I can continue to document your family. For the Eastern Shore folks…. it means Andrea Burns Photography is coming your way, and I Can’t Wait To Meet You.

I would like to thank all of my clients thus far for believing in me and helping to build my business. If you were considering a session with me, I am currently booking studio sessions on the weekends, and location session on weeknights. And there are VERY FEW spots left.

Birth, One & Two years

A Happy Happy Birthday to my Honey Girl!

I know that some of my Facebook Fans have already seen this duo of sweetness, but I can’t help but blog it.  I’ve been really lax about photographing my three these last couple months and need to change that.  Some clients often ask how I get such nice photos of my children… here’s the secret.  They don’t get full sessions.  I go in like a warrior, with one scene/ set up at a time.  It took me 15 min. to get these two photos, because Audrey wouldn’t grace me with her gaze, let alone a smile.  She was too busy fussing over the grass touching her toes.

Easter is coming, and we’re on our way to my family’s house on the Eastern Shore.  I pinky promise to photograph my kids there a little…. ;)

1. I am right handed, but goofy-footed.
2. I hate squash, meatloaf & mushrooms.
3. One food I couldn’t life without: the potato.
4.  I have a BS in Early Child Education.
5. I was a social butterfly in college, and as I age and mature, I find myself more introverted.
6. I love that Nate is a renaissance man, he can fix or build anything!
7. I collect vintage cameras. my favorite is my antique Rolleiflex.
8. I really want to live in a Craftmans’ Cottage/ colonial type home one day with beautiful woodwork inside and a stone fireplace… and a couple of acres.
9. House Hunters is one of my favorite shows.  Along with Raising Hope, Parenthood, Chopped, and Private Practice.
10. I often get asked if I ever model.  It mortifies me, and I think in my head “are they actually looking at me?”  I’m hyper critical of myself.
11. I have a weakness for girly dresses… for me or for Audrey.  GAP is my first choice.
12. I am most definitely  a night person.  I read until all hours.
13. I never spell the word guarantee correct.
14. I dream very vividly, wildly, and weirdly.
15. I hate it when Nate calls me “Bruce” or “Beatrice.”
16. I don’t actually *like* to run.  But I do love the feeling of accomplishment that follows the finish of 7 or 8 miles.
17. I am half-cuban, and lived the first five years of my life in Peru.  I used to be bilingual.
18. I love curling up in my corner of the couch with a new magazine or catalogue, and dog-ear corners to pages of things I will never buy.
19. I love that I shoot both studio & location, b/c I get sick of studio in time for location, and vice-versa.
20. I have a phobia of grates and storm drains, so I refuse to step on them, and will do all thats in my power to walk around them.
21. I also have a phobia of sleeping with a closet door open. Nope. Must be shut.
22. One of my favorite sights is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It means I’m home.
23. Random strangers often tell me I look like Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Gardner, or Julia Roberts. I think I look more like Claire Danes, a la Romeo & Juliet, lol.
24. Speaking of… “My So-Called Life” is one of my all time favorite shows… and was totally me in High School. Right down to the two eclectic friends.
25. my favorite color is…..

guess!!

And a recent photo that Nate helped take…

xoxo

Audrey is a special girl… she’s my favorite girl.  She pats my cheek and emphatically says “Hi Mom!”  Or sits on the opposite end of the couch and yells, “Mommy… MOMMY!”  And as I look at her, she smiles and says quietly, “Hi Mom.”  My Honey Girl loves her Buh-Pee (Puppy) and her sparkly shoes.  She wears them over her pajamas, and cries as I take them off for her nap.  She’s a clown who wants to make you laugh.  She’s the beauty of my heart.

Lucas Turns 4!

March 17, 2011

Lucas at 1 day, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years

Lucas, 4 years old

Saturday, March 12, my sweet little boy turned four years old.  4!!  Where did that time go?  Lucas is still very much my little boy.  He’s sensitive, and still climbs into my lap for kisses and cuddles.  he’s still my helper in the kitchen and just loves to do anything cooking related.  His obsession over the last year?  Trains.  And more trains.  He’s not brand specific, he enjoys ANY locomotive of any type.

The birthday boy got his first bike with training wheels, a leapster, Lego Lotso’s truck, and Geotrax Aero.  I’m not speaking a different language.  Moms of boys should know what I just said, lol.  He was just thrilled, especially with the Aero.  he kept that clutched to his little chest most of the following two days.

We surprised Lucas by taking him to the Strasburg Railroad, so that he could take a train ride and tour the train museum.  Jackpot!  Little boy heaven! Above he’s pictured with the Train’s conductor.  Which by the way Lucas has informed me his name now is “Conductor.”

On March 13th, we were sitting around the breakfast table and Conductor announced that he was excited!  ”Why?” I asked.  ”Because I’m almost 5!”

Slooow down there a little Conductor.

We love you Lucas, Happy 4th Birthday!

Of Course!
