Meet Alex. This little guy was 364 days old when I got to shoot him and his family. Alex is well loved… his parents were always smooching him. Later some extended family came for an extended family portrait, and their joy in seeing him was just tangible.  He was so smilie and so happy-go-lucky.   Happy Birthday Alex!  Thank you for a fun evening L family!

Hello, my name is Andrea and I love color.

There I said it. I’m obsessed with color. I like color and lots of it.

So I decided to try something new.  So I present to you:  A session preview done entirely in black and whites.

Crazy, I know.

As a side note, the above family is the Blair family, of Blair Blanks Photography based in Baltimore.  She had just had her third child and wanted some help capturing all three of her kids together, and then of herself and her new daughter.  It was such an honor to help her, and so much fun!

This family contacted me recently, they wanted some family portraits.  Not just *any*portrait, but fun portraits, almost some tongue in cheek portraits. “Dressed up at the playground” type photos. I was game!  Originally from Hawaii, they are recent Maryland transplants.  Aren’t they just a stunning, drop dead gorgeous family?

Miss H was easy-peasy all smiles.

Mr N was pretty serious at first.  But then he started warming up.

We first saw the S kids back early this winter.  This time around they brought back their beloved cousins.  These cousin normally live in Europe, so watching them all interact was a treat… it reminded me of my bond with my own cousins, very sweet and playful!

And all of them together…. one of my faves from the session!

I love chubby babies.  I love the little fat rolls and the absence of wrists and ankles.  I adore the squished faces, and their smell…. oh their smell!  This is why I have the greatest job in the world.  Because I get to snuggle handsome little chubs like Oliver….

Of course he’s so good looking!  His parents are beautiful too!

I have been obsessed lately with backlighting and filling the photos with yummy light.  I love how it halos the hair and adds that touch of magic to the images.  And then I met Miss T, and with her cornsilk hair, I just had to do it again…

and now one of the whole gorgeous family!

Andrea Burns Photography is out of office over the next week.  I will do my best to answer emails, but please forgive me if I don’t answer within 24-48 hours.

Over the last year I have become really friendly with a photographer and her “family on furlough.” Gini and her family relocated to the area, just for this past year, for her husband to complete his Masters Degree. Sadly, their year is finished, and they are moving back to Mississippi in just a couple weeks. Gini had asked me to take her family photos forever ago… and weather or rumpus-like boy behavior prohibited, and we’ve had to reschedule a few times. We FINALLY got to take some photos last Thursday evening.

One funny… not one, but TWO separate people at two separate locations saw me leaning over to take a photo of the posed family, when they asked if I wanted THEM to take the photo, so I could join them.

Next time I’ll be sure to wear my official Photographer’s Beret. ;)

I am really, really proud that there is not a headswap at all in photos 1 & 3.  I’ll let you try to find the one or two in photo 2.  ;)

This poor family was rescheduled 4 times because of bad weather!  I finally got over there a couple weekends ago, under the threat of storms *again* and got to work. This is my 2nd time shooting them, the first time HERE.  The W family lives on the most amazing piece of wooded property.  It’s so beautiful and peaceful.  Four children normally is tough, but honestly, all of these kids were a delight this day!  I couldn’t have asked for a better shoot.   I’m having a really hard time just paring it down to show you my faves….

Meet sweet baby Maya, who is about to celebrate her very first birthday~  This beauty was a shy one, that I had to pull out all of my tricks to get her sweet smiles.  But they were worth every sweat drop… look at her smiles…. just darling!
