Busy little guys… you know the ones I mean…. the little men who just have too much playing to do, and shouldn’t be bothered with pesky photographers wanting to take their photos.

That is….

until Uncle broke out the juggling balls and showed off some mad skills.  Along with some mighty fine photographer dancing, we finally coaxed some smiles out of B’s fine face.  You may remember B from HERE.

Run, Andrea, Run!

November 23, 2009

Yesterday, I finished my running season.  I shared the beginnings of my Running Story here. And here’s how my awesome season went….

Run, Andrea, run!

This was the Run For Shelter 5K (3.1 miles) on Kent Island, MD, on Sept 12.   My time was 23:30.     I came in 2nd in womens 30-35,  6th overall in women, 24th overall out of 224.

Run, Andrea, run!

Next I ran in the Marine Corps Marathon 10K (6.2 miles) on Oct. 25th.  My time was 49:35.  Out of 5110 finishers, I came in 724th! Out of 3111 women finishers, I came in 210th (Top 6th % ).  I placed 35th in my age division.

Run, Andrea, run!

Yesterday (Nov 22) I ran in the Philadelphia Half Marathon (13.1 miles).  My time was 1:49:35.  I finished 1332 out of 15,872 runners. I placed 558th in 8,531 females. Again, the top 7%!!  Today, respectably, I am sore and I am  super proud of what I’ve accomplished.  I’ve REALLY enjoyed seeing how strong my body has become and where it can take me. I’m very much looking forward to running a Full Marathon next year, the Marine Corps Marathon in DC.

Yesterdays race was just amazing.  I’ve trained solo all summer long, and then to run with thousands of others, while people cheered me on was an indescribable feeling.  I gave my all and sprinted across the finish line, where I heard my husband call my name.  I wandered over, and kissed my Audrey on the head and became emotional.  This journey has just meant that much to me.

A much heartfelt THANKS to everyone who supported me emotionally and verbally.  I can’t wait to do it again!

part two, part two!

my dear friend, who is about to pop in the next couple weeks with baby #3, invited me for a 3rd Portrait Party in her home.  I actually only shot 1 brand new family, the rest were repeat clients!  I *LOVE* that!  I love seeing how children have grown over the year!

Here are the first two sessions… two more tomorrow!

This is Morgan… full of love, sweet hugs, and a lot of curiosity!  But most of all, I’m loving me some Morgan sassiness!

Where The Wild Things Are

November 9, 2009

Where the Wild Things Are

The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind and another

his mother called him “WILD THING!”
and Max said “I’LL EAT YOU UP!”
so he was sent to bed without eating anything.

Where the Wild Things Are | Andrea Burns Photography

That very night in Max’s room a forest grew

and grew-

and grew until his ceiling hung with vines and the walls became the world all around

Where the Wild Things Are | Andrea Burns Photography

and an ocean tumbled by with a private boat for Max and he sailed off through night and day
and in and out of weeks
and almost a year
to where the wild things are.

Where the Wild Things Are | Andrea Burns Photography

And when he came to the place where the wild things are
they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth
and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws
till Max said “BE STILL!”
and tamed them with the magic trick
of staring into their yellow eyes without blinking once
and they were frightened and called him the most wild thing of all

Where the Wild Things Are | Andrea Burns Photography

and made him king of all the wild things.
“And now,” cried Max, “let the wild rumpus start!”

“Now Stop!” cried Max and sent the wild things off to bed
without their supper. And Max the king of all the wild things was lonely and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all.
Then all around from far away across the world he smelled good things to eat
so he gave up being king of where the wild things are.

But the Wild things cried, “Oh please don’t go- we’ll eat you up- we love you so!”
And Max said, “No!”
The wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth
and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws
but Max stepped into his private boat and waved good-bye
and sailed back over a year
and in and out of weeks
and through a day

Where the Wild Things Are | Andrea Burns Photography

and into the night of his very own room
where he found his supper waiting for him

and it was still hot

Beautiful and lovely, every single one of them!

Meet Becky…  She’s a musical genius and such a gentle soul.  This beautiful senior is off to college for piano performance.

Finding this motorcycle was complete luck.  It was a spur of the moment shot, and afterwards I learned that her dad teaches motorcycle safety!
