This past week, my eldest had to go and turn five. A whole hand. Whoever gave him the notion that it was OK to do that?

beach goodness

Us Burns’ had a great time at the beach last week. It was just what the doctor ordered, lots of rest and relaxation.  The whole Burns Clan got a house together on Topsail Island, which is between the outer Banks and Myrtle Beaches.  Very quiet and un-commercialized.  We did a lot of sand castle building, wave riding, and sun soaking.  There was also a lot of hunting for shark’s teeth and sea glass.   One A-Maz-Ing thing we saw…. we watched the local Turtle Hospital release rehabilitated sea turtles back to the sea.  All sizes, ranging from baby turtles to a HUGE turtle that took 4 men to carry.  A week of goodness… and now back to the grind!

The Burns family will be out of town and (mostly) away from the internet for a week.  It’s time for some much needed r&r.  I’ll play catch up with email and gallery posts when I return. Those of you who have emailed about holiday sessions – thank you!  I’ll be getting in touch with you with scheduling options soon - promise!   Love, me

Things I know about Nick.  He is a technological genius.  He is a lover of fine cars and pups named Roxy.  He may just show up to church with a bleached blonde buzz cut on a whim.  He is of Russian descent.  He loves a great conversation.

He is super photogenic…..

I can’t get enough of those green eyes above.  Nick, best of luck this year!

Over the weekend I received a precious gift.  I had my own family’s photos taken by the very talented Shey Marin of Shey Marin Photography.  As the photographer of the family it is not often I am in photos, let alone the whole family together.  When it was just the 3 or 4 of us, I did OK with self timer, or my remote, but now that there are 5 of us, I knew I needed help.

So Shey and I met up in Old Town Alexandria and swapped some services.  I adore what she captured for me, and you can see sneek peak images HERE on HER Blog. Here is what I captured of Shey and her patient husband…

So how cute are they?  I had a great time talking shop with another photographer and comparing shooting styles… and lets face it, picking up a few new awesome tricks to try!

It is ready! Finally (OK, 95%) finished, my NEW Studio Workspace! Where the magic happens! This is the left side of my 12×15 space.

This is my workspace. (New chair coming soon!)

I plan to showcase product samples and size samples on the white side table. I also want to hang some funky frames over the magnet board, or maybe some small canvases/ artwork.

Right side of the space.  LOVE my live . laugh . photograph sign!

Looking forward. I’d eventually like to mount my backdrops to the ceiling.

And, a test shot using the existing floor and wall. An extra option!

Seth’s as excited as I am.  :)
